Announcements for Change

By Atalanta Lloyd-haynes of Spines & Spirit

Here are some announcements to keep you in the moment as you travel on your personal journey. Stick them in your wallet, purse or inside the front cover of your diary or journal. Whenever you have a quiet moment announce them to yourself and the universe. You may use any that resonate, or all. Observe over the next month or so how your attitude and perceptions change.

I see with true and clear vision, not mine or others perception of situations.
I seek to truly know and accept the “dark” aspects of my self.
I let those aspects go with love to be transmuted for the greater good.
I seek also to know and love my whole true self
I walk with integrity, I step up and stand for Truth.
I speak the truth of my vision with courage and conviction.
I seek to know completely the truth of “I Am and Life Is”
I step beyond the illusion and break the mirror.
I am freed from expectations and attachment to outcomes
I know Joy and Happiness, Serenity and Peace in this moment.

I am humble
as
I see
I accept
I release
I let go
I embrace
I be
I love
I walk my talk
I have integrity
I am without agendas
I am willing to learn
I am willing to teach
I am Me

This is certainly a different approach for a senior citizen newbie, but I'll give it a heartfelt try.
Thank you for sharing.

Inspirational by and large, though there are a few things in it I disagree with.

I don't look to be humble at all. I prefer to accept compliments than to shuffle and deny them, to get positive attention for doing something real and positive (writing, art, just being there for a friend) and to take honest pride in my achievements.

False humility is one of the most obnoxious forms of arrogance.

Real pride and real humility are both grounded in reality and both healthy.

As for attachment to outcomes -- I disagree on that one too. I get a lot more done when I set goals and strive for them than if I don't care about the results.

Likewise expectations -- I get too much joy in anticipation from so many things. If I order new art supplies it cheers me up for months thinking about it and planning the order, then waiting for it to arrive, then after it arrives it's like Christmas out of season opening the box. Then I've got anticipation again between getting the new supplies and using them. So expectations can also be a good thing and a pleasure in life.

Let go of unrealistic expectations of other people including that you can predict what they'll do or control it, and life's good.

CONTRIBUTOR'S REPLY

Thank you Robert, thank you for adding to the clarity of the piece, it is most useful.

As you say - true humility is taking honest pride in achievements. This is the humility I was speaking of - a rigorous honesty about oneself. You are correct - false humility is something to be avoided.

Setting goals and striving for them is a wonderful thing. Non-attachment to outcomes does not mean not caring about the results - simply that one does not become obsessed with attaining a particular outcome at any cost, and acceptance if the outcome differs from what one envisaged.

Anticipation is somewhat different from expectations - you say it perfectly - let go of unrealistic expectations...

Again, thank you for adding clarity to the piece. It is a draft, and so the feedback you have provided will improve it immensely.
Blessings
