Authenticity for the new Decade
By Atalanta Lloyd-haynes of Spines & Spirit
Okay, so the new decade is here. How are you going to live it? I am prompted to write this at the dawning of this new decade as both an inspiration and a caution. Next week I am obtaining my Coaching Certification, and I am really, really excited! So I have been looking at heaps of stuff on the net, and collecting much data in preparation, and getting a little caught in the trap of dishonoring my own creativity and ability. You can tell when someone is authentic, as their copy reads like they speak. When I read stuff written by people I know, I can almost hear their voice if the writing is coming from their heart. Similarly, my writing doesn't flow when I am not speaking from my own heart and experience, and just copying someone else's style. The message is: Be authentic! People want YOU, not you pretending to be someone or something else. So that is my goal for 2010 and the decade - to live authentically and assist as many others as I can to do so too. Bright Blessings Atalanta

You have a great goal for 2010, Atalanta. Let's hope that many of us can follow your lead. Best of luck in 2010 and beyond. Frederick
Very true words you have written, Atalanta. It's far easier to be yourself, than to pretend you are someone that you are not. As you said, it's pretty easy to spot the fakes. Your comments about my InnerGuru website are even MORE appreciated by myself after reading your intel, as it validates my form of approach and my beliefs and, more importantly, your acceptance of them. Thank you.

Thank you Frederick and John. xo
Ya know... You hear this kinda thing all the time to the point of it seeming trite. But it's something we all need to keep hearing because "being authentic" is such an easy train to derail. Too many of us are slow learners in this regard even though fakes are easy to spot (usually). Thank you for the wise words. Jim
Nice idea and words Atalanta, thats the yoga philosophy indeed and we all need ot make it a reality for ourselves in 2010. Easier said than done I know....Authentic in action, AND thought. Eliza (lotus Petal)
May your new direction bring you much fulfilment and happiness
It's really true what you say. I sometimes find it a little bit harder to detect authenticity face-to-face with people - it depends on how good they are at 'acting' and how well I know them. But I find that if I trust my instinct and how I feel, rather than being misled by 'buying' what people are saying that I can tell if someone is being authentic or not. It's interesting that you are writing this, and I'm coming across it at this particular time in my life, but I'm finding that authenticity is becoming increasingly important for me, both to be authentic myself and to find and surround myself by others who are also authentic. Well over a decade ago I read a very small little book, I wish I could remember the title, it was about will and free will, and there was something in it that has stuck with me all this time, I think about it often. To paraphrase, it was something along the lines of... ... be true to yourself (be authentic), don't try to please others or act like you think others want you to. Because if you're not being true to yourself, your true people won't recognize you, and they won't be able to find you. I have absolutely found that to be true. When I'm being true to myself, authentic, I attract the most wonderful, supportive, like-minded people. When I compromise in order to 'fit in' I usually find myself surrounded by negative, complaining, often back-stabbing, selfish people. And I become very unhappy and negative myself. So starting last year I have tried to stay on track and live one of my favorite sayings, "Be the change you want to see in the world". Thanks for posting a great intel!

Thank you Donna! Blessings to You xoxoxo
I haven't found anyone else I would want to pretend to be yet. Life is pretty good.
